Virtual Press Conference - 5th May 2017 to kicked off the UN Week

The World Health Organization organized a Virtual Press Conference on Friday 5th May to kick off the 4th United Nations Global Road Safety Week. The conference was open to members of the press and people interested to attend to find out more information about the Week. Attendees connected to the conference remotely and campaigners were encouraged to share details about the press conference with their press contacts.

Launch of Fourth UN Global Road Safety Week and new guidance for safe roads

What: Excessive or inappropriate speed contributes to one-third of the 1.25 million road fatalities that occur around the world every year, and 40-50% of drivers go over posted speed limits. Highlighting the threat posed by speed, and launching new guidance to make roads safe, are key elements of the Fourth UN Global Road Safety Week, being held from 8-14 May.
