Governments reach consensus on a comprehensive set of global road safety targets

In a historic move, Member States concluded work on a comprehensive set of 12 global road safety targets to measure progress.

The performance targets on which consensus was reached align with the five pillars of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020: road safety management, safer roads and mobility, safer vehicles, safer road users, and post-crash response. These targets and associated indicators will provide an opportunity for countries to adjust the focus and scale of national road safety activities as needed in order to ensure that related SDG targets are met.
