Mr Tewari is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the SaveLIFE Foundation, an innovative, non- profit organization committed to improving road safety and emergency medical care in India. Mr Tewari led the organization in securing the Good Samaritan Law for India, which protects first responders helping road traffic crash victims from any civil or criminal liability. In recognizing the critical role played by bystanders in saving the lives of road traffic crash victims, under his leadership, over 10,000 first responders including police personnel have been trained in basic trauma life support. Mr Tewari steered the organization to work on road safety across types of interventions, from improving road and vehicular engineering to enforcing traffic laws, reforming driver education and enhancing emergency care.
This was done by creating a scalable and replicable model to achieve zero preventable deaths on one of India’s deadliest highways, namely the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. In partnership with the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, the SaveLIFE Foundation is helping the State to achieve its road traffic fatality target of a 30% reduction by 2020 through policy work and through adoption of a high fatality stretch of road in the State. For his personal contributions to road safety, Mr Tewari was recognized as a Young Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2019.
